Angry Sky

There is nothing like a good violent thunderstorm, and today was nothing like a good thunderstorm. In fact, it was a bit disappointing. We need rain here, or pretty soon we'll all be migrating somewhere else where there actually is some water. I'm talking about Perth, Western Australia.

Here is a little bit of what we had today:

CD: Battle Born by The Killers

This is a GREAT CD!....

...but then again, I may be biased. I am a massively huge Killers fan. I even bought one of the Twilight movie soundtracks because it had a single Killers song on it (I refuse to buy The Killers christmas songs however. They are awful...)

A few years ago the Killers decided to have a bit of a holiday. For me, the wait was long, even painfully long...

But the wait was well worth it, in my opinion as a fan. I'm not a professional music critic. The music is quite different to previous Killers albums. There's nothing much like "Smile Like You Mean It" on this CD. There are songs that are influenced by early Springsteen, which, as a huge Springsteen fan as well, is perfectly fine with me.

One song stands out for me, and that's a song called "From Here On Out". I'm learning to play the Ukulele at the moment, and this song is really easy to play, and it sounds pretty good when played on a ukulele, even by an amateur like me.

The title "Battle Born" is the motto for the great state of Nevada, where the Killers hail from. I think it's a great title. It's also the name of the Killers recording studio.

According to Wikipedia, this CD sold a million copies in 2012.

Track List:
-------------------------
Flesh and Bone
Runaways
The Way It Was
Here With Me
A Matter of Time
Deadlines and Commitments

I made a point of buying the Deluxe Edition, which gives you three more songs:

Carry Me Home
Flesh and Bone (Jacques Lu Cont Remix)
Prize Fighter

More Flower Close-Ups...

I'm not sure of the name of the tree that this particular flower comes from, but it surely is one of the most photogenic flowers around. It almost photographs itself...

These flowers are really easy to photograph because they are so big and detailed that you can move the camera in real close and get some interesting angles:

A Nice Moment Captured...

I took a nice picture the other day:

It's a very sweet image, and one that could only work in black and white. I find the colour version of this photo to be a bit distracting, whereas this black and white version feels very intimate.

I've got a lot more back and white dog pictures on my other website, Black and White Dog Pictures

My Fetish For Clouds Continues...

Yes, that's right, more clouds. You may be starting to think I'm a little strange paying this much attention to something as common as clouds, but there's just something in the randomness of the patterns that attracts me to them. And then there's the colours, from deep blues to bright oranges. What's not to like, I ask? Throw in a sunset for good measure, and it's an unbeatable combination.

This one has a plane in it that just happened to wander by. You can just about make it out, if you have a magnifying glass handy:

A Face in the Clouds...

Here's a couple of nice cloud pictures I took today. The second one reminds me of a witch, or an old woman.

Here's the face:

Spending More Time in the Bush

I spent some more time in the bush today. It's very hard to find wildflowers at this time of the year, but I managed to get lucky and find a few. I was very dubious that any of these pictures would work out, mainly because of the overcast skies, and the fact that I'm new to macro photography and don't really know what I'm doing yet. I don't understand low light photography very well yet. One added hurdle was the strong wind, which blew around my potential subjects. I'm lucky I got anything.

I can't believe how well a few of these pictures came out.
